AN EXCITING INTRODUCTION TO OUR NEW HOUSE SYSTEM GIVES COUGAR PRIDE A FRESH START

Last week's pep rally was an exciting start to our school year and gave the student body a proper showing of what the new house system hopes to achieve. Through friendly competition in games like rock paper scissors, tug-of-war, musical chairs, and potato sack races, we are able to not only continue building community but also allow or give every person a chance to participate in this colossal renovation. Some of these individuals would never have been acknowledged otherwise.

As Mr. Krause has stated, “Thursday’s pep rally was an exciting start to what we hope to be a transformative experience for the entire Cardinal Mooney community.” An exciting start indeed. This pep rally has even excitement from those who were skeptical of the House system and its effects.

This change shows that if done right, the House system will have an extremely positive impact upon our school. In this particular case, however, being “done right” can be subjective; it is apparent that inclusion is the key to success, and the best way to encourage inclusion is through giving everyone something to relate to.

So far this house system has increased school spirit a bit more. As Mr. Krause has stated, “It was incredible to see the amount of spirit from both our students and faculty at the pep rally and to hear them speaking positively about it days later still. This coming week we start our regular Family Time meetings and we hope they are received just as well.”

This house system hopefully will have a lasting impression upon our community, and even though it may not entirely change CMHS forever, it will certainly give our community a much-needed renovation.
